Enterprise Project and Portfolio Management

Steco has experience with the implementation of Project Online (sometimes known as PWA or Project Web App) together with  the very familiar Project Desktop (Microsoft Project). This includes set up, structuring the portfolios, custom groupings, data synchronisation and coding for reporting across the portfolio, both from Project Online and also very effectively from Power BI reporting, using direct data from the Microsoft Project dataset.

The enterprise approach may require more discipline across the projects but the ability to see overall portfolio impact and trends is very useful - in fact essential for multi project businesses.

As Project Online is hosted in a SharePoint environment other benefits of that collaboration are possible - e.g. common seamless access to project lists, project documents, risk, funds and change registers is achievable. Subscription plans, Project Plan 1 or 3 or 5 reflect the level of product functionality and if the Desktop version is also supplied.

Steco has experience too with the implementation of the Strategic Analysis module in Project Online and company specific customisations.

Note - Project For the Web is an alternate product choice and actually differs from Project Online (PWA) - yes its confusing ! - but currently Project For the Web has a reduced functionality compared to Project Online / Project Desktop but in some respects its easier to manage and quite suitable for less demanding requirements. Some third party software vendors are writing add on Power App applications using Project for the Web as the platform.

Collaboration with O365 and Power Apps / Teams is an obvious benefit in either of these environments.

Other vendors desktop and enterprise systems are also well established in the market and Steco has familiarity with several of these including Primavera and Powerproject.

Any enterprise project system implementation needs to be considered  carefully as part of an overall corporate IT systems plan, and with respect to integration and cost effectiveness for multiple users.
